DOM is the Document Object Model [1] specified by the W3C as a representation of and manipulation interface to XML documents.

Implementations in the Tcl world are Jochen Loewer's tDOM and Steve Ball's TclDOM.

According to Steve Ball tDOM is not completely compliant with the W3C standard. Still, tDOM is by far the faster of the two.

tDOM doesn't implement all of DOM Level 2. tDOM users all seem to agree that this is a non-issue for them. Also, Jochen has plans to round out the implementation during 2001. [More on this subject will be available in September.]
